Brant, beloved son of Mandy Helwig Oberst, was a cherished member of his family and community. Earlier in the week, he experienced a critical medical emergency and was transported to C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, where he remained under the care of a dedicated medical team, surrounded by those who loved him most. In a powerful and selfless act, Brant’s family shared that he would provide the Gift of Life—ensuring that even in heartbreak, his legacy would bring hope and healing to others.
Brant touched countless lives during his time in the Bloomfield Hills community. A student at Way Elementary School, he was known for his bright spirit, kindness, and the joy he brought into the classroom. Outside of school, he found passion and camaraderie through baseball, playing in the Bloomfield Baseball League for several years before advancing to travel baseball with the Sting 10U team.
To his coaches, teammates, and friends, Brant was more than a player—he was a source of positivity, encouragement, and genuine friendship. He embodied the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and love for the game. His presence on and off the field left a lasting impression, and his absence is deeply felt across the entire baseball community.
In the wake of this devastating loss, the Bloomfield Baseball League, Sting organization, and the broader community have come together in unity and support. Efforts are underway to assist the Oberst family during this incredibly difficult time, reflecting the deep impact Brant had on those around him.
